As you know, manufacturers and distributors across a number of industries are experiencing disruptions to their supply chains. Moving into summer, it's likely these shortages will continue or possibly increase. We’ve spoken with many of our suppliers, and they shared a few suggestions we hope will help alleviate or prevent a strain on your own inventory:
Stock up your inventory if and where possible. Consider what makes sense for your business and anticipated work load. Stock additional inventory in anticipation of your needs as well as expected increases in prices as demand rises.
Set clear expectations with your customers. Let them know this is a global and multi-industry issue, and there may be delays. Products simply may not be available within the timeline you or your customers have previously come to expect. Work with your FBC for tips on communicating this message.
Build up your relationship with your current suppliers. Your national and local reps will be the first to know about updates and changes to inventory and will be communicating those updates to their customers. PTN will continue to stay in contact with its suppliers, but you can too!
