The US has enacted the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) – takes effect on 4/1/2020. The FFCRA will require employers with fewer than 500 employees to provide paid leave to employees who are impacted by COVID-19 and offer tax credits to employers that do so. Click here to learn more. Minimum Wage Increases
Effective 7/1/2020, minimum wage* increases will be in effect for a large number of states, cities, and municipalities. This increase will be applicable to employers who have employees performing work in the affected areas, which are listed here (on the first page).
If you have any employees who are below the new minimum wage in the area in which they perform work, please connect with your Payroll Technician to ensure pay rates are adjusted to reflect the new increase. If you have any questions, please reach out to your HR representative.
*Note: Rates may differ in certain areas depending on employee count.
SBA Form 722
Businesses receiving SBA financial assistance are required to post SBA Form 722, Equal Opportunity Poster, where it is clearly visible to employees, applicants for employment, and the general public.
Senate Passes Extension of Application Deadline for PPP Small Business Loans
On 6/30/2020, the U.S. Senate cleared legislation to extend the deadline for businesses to apply for aid under the PPP, which was previously set to expire. The extension for applying is now extended to 8/8/2020. The program provides forgivable loans that small businesses and other qualifying entities can use to cover payroll and other costs.
PPP Loan Forgiveness Application Available
The Treasury and SBA recently released the PPP Loan Forgiveness application and instructions. The PPP documents provide some guidance around the statutory forgiveness standards of the CARES Act.

In an effort to navigate and expedite the selection of the stimulus package options that the Federal government has released, please download the COVID-19 Assistance Addendum and forward the completed document to Barrett Whittington at firstname.lastname@example.org. If needed, you can find Form 7200 here.
Mandatory FFCRA Poster:
Under federal law, the FFCRA (effective 4/1/2020) states all employees must receive a copy of the new Department of Labor (DOL) poster (download here) to meet the posting requirements for this law. Given these unusual circumstances, the DOL is allowing employers to send this notice electronically, direct mailing a hard copy, or posting on an employee information internal or external website.
